Spoiler alertsss: So if you aren’t caught up in Lost, don’t read this, duh.
In doing my yearly Lost re-watch leading up to the new season, I noticed something new (just like every year.) Sadly, this will be my last year to re-watch with something to theorize or speculate on what’s about to happen. The thing I noticed once again came in Flashes Before Your Eyes (Season 3, Episode 8.) Click here for my thoughts about that episode when it first aired.
Since Desmond was so close to the electromagnetic source when he turned the failsafe key, his mind becomes “unstuck in time” like the island, and his consciousness time-travelled back to his body in 1996.
With what we know occurred in the Season Five finale, The Incident, the Losties try to detonate a Hydrogen bomb in the same area (27 years earlier, in 1977) full of the unique electromagnetism. Juliet detonates the bomb and we are slammed with a new WHITE Lost ending.
This time, since everyone is so close to the center of that energy, maybe they all will experience the consciousness time travel trips that Desmond had, and that will be the narrative technique for the finale season. It would be a great way for the characters to redeem the mistakes they’ve made in their lives, a great way to wrap up character stories, and a great way to keep the story fresh. I really have no idea where I’d go from here if I was one of the writers; but I could see it happening this way. Here’s to the FINAL SEASON!

Interesting idea and I think I really like it. Sounds like the best way to wrap up everything without ticking off all the fans.
Yeah, I really wonder what they’re going to do. I have faith in them after Season 5. I like how they’re not showing new footage in the previews too (finally.)
